New catalysts to convert CO2 to polycarbonate polyols

Using captured CO2 as a chemical reagent is an attractive means of carbon sequestration. One promising route is to copolymerize carbon dioxide and epoxides, to prepare polycarbonates.

Polycarbonate polyols find use in leather, coatings, adhesives and sealants sectors.

One of the critical drivers for such reactions is the choice of catalysts. Choice of catalysts could also facilitate production of polycarbonate polyols of different molecular weights.
